Give Thanks

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:4-9

I feel that this day of thanksgiving gets lost in the holiday season. I feel that it is just an excuse to eat to much and to prepare for the craziness that Christmas has become. But today I think we need to thank our Lord and Savior for all that we have. You may feel that you have little but you need to thanks God for that. After all God sent his Son to earth to be the ultimate sacrifice so that we we who where separated from God in our sin could be with him again. As Paul says in Philippians we need to give God our thanks in everything. So as you sit down today and eat we need to be thankful for all that we have, and to remember that God gave it all to us.

So in that I want to say that I am thankful for My husband, his job, my wonderful little boys, my parents for teaching me how to live and for showing the love of God to us. For my younger brother for all his wisdom and for all the wonderful people God has put in my way.

Happy Thanksgiving

Giving it all to Him

Money. We all need it. We all seem to want it. It is a necessary evil of our society. As a follower of Christ I believe that all I have is God's, but why is it then I can't seem to trust God with my money. I get frustrated when money is short. I get mad at myself  when I eat out knowing that if I had any self control I would have just driven past the Panera Bread and not stopped (the one in our town has a drive through, it is very temping). This week during church I felt a tug of the Holy Spirit to let go of the money situation and give it to God. I had taken out some cash that was to cover us for the week (this is our way to keep our finances in check).  I felt God saying put it all in the offering plate along with your normal tithe except 20 dollars. I did.

Isaiah 55:1-3
Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.
